When is Citywide Cleanup Week this year?

Anchorage Chamber Citywide Cleanup Week is officially held Saturday, May 3 to Saturday, May 10 throughout the Municipality of Anchorage, which includes Girdwood, Bird Creek, Indian, Chugiak, Eagle River, Birchwood and Eklutna. This year the program celebrates 46 years!

Where can I get orange bags?

The official orange bags of Citywide Cleanup can be picked up at the customer service counter of any Fred Meyer location in Anchorage and Eagle River starting April 25.
Click here for a list of locations. Bags can also be picked up at the Anchorage Chamber office.
Each person is limited to two (2) bags at pick up.
If your organization, group or business is cleaning up together, please contact the Anchorage Chamber office to have more bags reserved for you to pick up.

Can I leave my bags on the side of the road when I'm done cleaning?

No. There is no pick-up service during Citywide Cleanup Week.
All parties are responsible for delivering their full orange trash bags to the *Central Transfer Station, Anchorage Regional Landfill or the Girdwood Transfer Station. Click here for more information.

How much will Solid Waste Services charge me when I deliver my orange bags during the week?

Trash in official orange trash bags will be accepted for free disposal at Solid Waste Services facilities during Citywide Cleanup Week. These facilities include Girdwood Transfer Station, *Central Transfer Station, and Anchorage Regional Landfill.

Only trash from community clean-up efforts will be accepted in the orange bags. If possible, please provide your team or business name.
To be accepted without a fee, orange bags must be delivered separately from other waste. No yard waste or items from personal property will be accepted. Click here for more information.

What is "Free Dump Days?"

During Citywide Cleanup Week, Solid Waste Services will accept free loads from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 and Saturday, May 10 at the Anchorage Regional Landfill (Hiland Road exit of the Glenn Highway) and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (same days) at the Girdwood Transfer Station ONLY!

Please note the following restrictions:

The Central Transfer Station on East 56th Avenue in Anchorage will NOT be taking free residential loads. CTS will be closed to all customers on May 3 and May 10.
There are fees for oversized loads, uncovered loads and refrigerators/freezers. Cash and local checks are the only payments accepted for these items.

Only residential waste is accepted for no fee during the Free Dump Days. All loads must be secured or covered to prevent littering in transit and must not exceed 1,000 pounds. Uncovered loads will be subject to fines. Click here for full details.
